The image is of a taniwha, a mythological Māori creature, which have been both protectors and instigators of mischief. The taniwha has a range of sexual characteristics, some relating to my own characteristics, and others I do not have. The term ‘ira tangata’ is a contemporary term for Māori who are intersex.
